Yeh Dilli hai meri jaan...
A day I did like to forget but will remember for some time to come… left home in morning to go to Chandigarh and very excited to see a new city… but found myself at the Mumbai airport till noon (till they ‘with regret’ announced cancellation) and then took a flight to Delhi… till I landed, was feeling very groggy… one bcos of lack of sleep and other ofcourse not being able to reach Chandigarh and resultant delay in work schedule… well but this mood was to last only till I landed…
Once out of the flight, the chill in the air simply chilled me out… it’s a chic airport now (my memories of Delhi airport are of some 3 years ago... and not impressive at all)… once in the cab, couldn’t stop admiring this city… wont get into Mumbai vs Delhi at all bcos then my biases will work their way here… but this city has a pull of its own, always been for me… it was around 5pm and a foggy tone was set all over, with sun making its presence felt from up behind the fog… this very air, easy roads, neat directions (with pincodes!!)… the directionless traffic, sparkling cantonment area followed by the lavish ministry bunglows… all of it appeals me… every single time…
Cavalry and troops gearing up for 26th Jan celebrations were a sight… hope to see the actual celebrations someday… The cabbie kept complaining as to how these parades and mock trials keep hampering the traffic and disrupt daily life… how it takes long to reach station or airport every morning… so turned back again to see the preparations and froze there… Rashtrapati Bhavan in the backdrop of Sunset was looking gorgeous… no artificial illumination… just the mist ahead and pleasantly orange sun behind… missed my camera sorely then…
With some time on hand, went for an hour long walk in and around CP… a refreshing stroll, which refreshed many memories… many things have changed and many more will change given the impending construction work everywhere… So Delhi, here I am… looking forward to refresh more such memories… and to discover more of you this time… :-))

ReplyDeleteAt some point I fell for Mumbai, but recent few visits to Delhi has brought me closer to Delhi again.
Notwithstanding the fact that i missed my flight due to traffic in Delhi, but the network of roads and Metro has changed the dilli for good!!
