In this age of celebrations around various days… mothers day, womens day, doctors day and the like… there is always one day that rightfully belongs to you… by default… your own birthday… or so we think :))
So here was this special day for me… which now if I look back at, came and went in a flurry… but left behind some thoughts and some wisdom… there are many people who wish you on this day… family, friends, acquaintances… whats heartening is they have made an attempt to remember this day…
What I would reminisce about would be those ‘special’ wishes… who by all means deserve a mention here… whose distinctive gestures are still on my mind… someone who kept awake till 12 in night just to call/msg me… someone who put an alarm so as not to miss the date… someone who never remembered my bday in last 30 yrs to being among the first one to wish this year… someone sitting far away sending a cake home, making me realize that distances don’t matter (still I missed you dear friend!)… someone rightfully asking for (and taking!!) a treat from me on my bday… someone treating me to my most favourite (pastries and ice creams)… someone taking time out of their ever so busy schedule to meet me personally… someone going through the process of thinking of what I could like (books anytime!!) and then gifting one to me… someone showering compliments over compliments just to make me feel special… someone who couldn’t stop apologizing for having to make me work in office… someone ensuring that the day ends well for me and planning for it the whole day…
Wish most of our days are spent like this… but in that case how will birthdays become special? Thank you all… want to let you know that you matter a lot to me…
